For an accurate result, keep your eyes fixed on the exact center for the whole test — don't move your eyes or head. For a split second, a shape flashes in the middle and a dot flashes on the edge at the same time — confirm both the shape and the dot's direction without looking directly at the dot.

Why it matters

Most game situations — a teammate's pass, an opponent approaching from the side, the ball at the edge of your vision — happen outside your direct line of sight, at the same time as whatever you're directly focused on. Good peripheral vision means processing both at once, without losing focus on the main task.

What it measures

Your ability to split attention between a central and a peripheral stimulus at the same time (the "useful field of view") — not just whether you notice something at the edge, but whether you can while also handling the main task.

Who it helps

Team sport athletes (basketball, football, hockey), combat sport athletes, and drivers.

Rating scale

≥ 90%Exceptional peripheral vision
75–89%Good peripheral vision
60–74%Average peripheral vision
< 60%Below average peripheral vision

This test follows the principle of clinical UFOV (useful field of view) tests, which measure not raw field width but how well you process a central and a peripheral stimulus at the same time.
