The ball starts moving and briefly disappears. Click "NOW!" at the exact moment it should reach the dashed line.
Why it matters
You don't always see the ball, a teammate, or an opponent the whole time — you lose sight of them for a split second (blocked by another player, a blink, turning your head) and have to predict where and when they'll reappear. This prediction ability is key to catching, blocking, and timing a strike.
The accuracy of timing a movement that temporarily disappears from view — the ability to mentally "fill in" a trajectory without continuously seeing it.
Athletes catching, blocking, and timing a strike, and anyone wanting to train motion prediction.
Rating scale
The test is based on the coincidence-anticipation timing paradigm, commonly used in sports science to measure the ability to time a response to a moving object that temporarily disappears from view (e.g. behind an obstacle). It measures the gap between the actual and predicted arrival time at the target.
